How Malawi Aims to Bring E-services to All its People: H.E. Nicholas Harry Dausi
09 November 2018 - Artikel
Malawi is building its ICT infrastructure to bring e-services to all its inhabitants, says His Excellency (H.E) Nicholas Harry Dausi, Malawi’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
In a video interview at the ITU 2018 Plenipotentiary Conference, he said: “[We are] working to make sure that in the countryside, where most of our people live, they have basic coverage of Internet and Broadband.”
“With the new communication Act of 2016…, if one has erected a tower, that tower can be used by all Internet providers,” he explained.
“ITU has played a pivotal and protracted role in helping Malawi to develop its ICT programmes,” he added. “We would also want, with the assistance of ITU, to establish … a cybersecurity programme.”
“And as a country and as a people, I think we still have more to go, but we have done and laid the groundwork for our people to access network connectivity, banking activities and e-services like health, education, and agriculture,” said Dausi.
