21 January, Geneva: ITU Workshop on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Security
20 Januari 2019 - Artikel
What are the implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for security, understanding that AI and ML will add to the armouries of both attackers and defenders?
This question will guide the discussions of an ITU workshop in Geneva, 21 January 2019. The workshop will analyze the ability of AI and ML to fortify security defenses, alongside the risks posed by AI and ML to security and privacy.
The workshop is free of charge and open to all.
Industry’s view will be presented by companies including 360 Technology, Alibaba, China Unicom, Ericsson, IBM, KDDI, KT, PAGO Networks, SK Telecom, Symantec, Trialog, Vodafone and ZTE. A national perspective will be offered by Japan’s National Institute of ICT.
The findings of the workshop will feed into the 22-30 January meeting of the ITU standardization expert group for security, ITU-T Study Group 17.
A key aim of the workshop will be to determine where ITU-T Study Group 17 could contribute to further standards collaboration in security.
“Applications incorporating AI and ML are becoming ubiquitous, with significant implications for security,” says Heung Youl Youm, Chairman of ITU-T Study Group 17. “This workshop will assist ITU-T Study Group 17 in fulfilling its mandate to build confidence and security in the use of ICTs, a task that demands close attention to the evolution of cyber threats.”
ITU-T Study Group 17 leads ITU standardization work on security, identity management, and languages and description techniques.
